While Blue Division play continues through Wednesday, teams from the Green and Red Divisions started on Monday to jockey for playoff position with their sights set on the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship quarterfinals.
The top two seeds from the tournament’s top division — likely Canada and the Iroquois — will receive byes to the semifinals while seeds three and four will play the top two teams out of the remaining divisions.

(ONONDAGA NATION) Rebounding from a 13-9 opening-night loss last Friday to the Iroquois Nationals, the U.S. men’s indoor lacrosse team recorded its second consecutive win Monday downing England 13-9, following a 14-7 defeat of the Czech Republic. Team USA closes out its opening round of the world championship against defending champion Canada on Tuesday night.
The U.S. bombarded England’s pro goalie Nick Rose of the NLL’s Toronto Rock with 65 shots Monday night. The margin of victory would have been wider had it not been for Rose. U.S. goalie Jake Henhawk only faced 34 shots. England led 7-5 late in the second quarter thanks to Rose’s heroics.
Casey Powell arrived earlier in the day from Florida to play his first indoor game since leaving the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth in 2014. He scored the game’s first goal in the third minute of play and finished with two.

The Canadians took care of business against the Czech Republic and will face the U.S. on Tuesday night.

Turkey evened its record at 2-2 in a high-scoring affair that saw multiple goalie changes. Anthony Terranova continued his fine WILC, with five goals and four assists in the win against Germany.

Ireland 12, Australia 4
Behind a three-goal, five-assist performance by Stephen Keogh, Ireland also advanced to the quarterfinal round and now has a rematch with Israel to determine seeding position. The Irish just lost to Israel 12-6 on Sunday in pool play.

Serbia 9, Switzerland 7
The Serbs went ahead 7-2 and held on to beat Switzerland powered by four goals from Ryan Pavic.

Israel 14, Finland 4
The Israelis clinched a spot in the quarterfinal round with a win that was never in doubt after a 13-1 run to start the game. Dan Deckelbaum and Bryan Hopper each notched hat tricks.
