Switzerland has been a member of World Lacrosse since 2008 and a full member since 2012.
Switzerland has appeared in two World Lacrosse women’s championships, four men’s championships and three men’s box championships, including an appearance at the most recent edition in 2024 in Utica in the United States.
The men’s team finished with wins over Greece and Mexico.

In 2024, Switzerland launched a new initiative to increase centralized player participation with the construction of a temporary box lacrosse rink at Kiesoffenhalle, or Gravel Kiln Hall, a large building used as an event space.

The rink was constructed by the club Solothurn Ambassadors Lacrosse, which was formed in 2015 and competes as one of 12 clubs in the Swiss Championship with men’s and women’s teams in field and sixes leagues.
“Swiss Lacrosse is trying to find new ways to get its players to enjoy all three lacrosse disciplines in order to raise the overall level of play and continue to field competitive national teams in all disciplines,” said President Lukas Heri. “The rink set up by Solothurn in this old factory building is the perfect example of that and is a great place to hold tournaments and clinic throughout the winter months when there’s snow on the grass fields and ice in all the hockey rinks.”
Switzerland also competed with a women’s team and two men’s teams at the EuroLax Sixes competition in early March in Algarve, Portugal.
The women’s team advanced to the quarterfinals and suffered a narrow defeat to Germany while the top men’s team collected the silver medal with an overtime loss to the Netherlands in the final.
“The Swiss sixes national teams performed well and are looking to take another step forward,” said Heri. “We want to make a splash at the world stage in the coming years.”
