(Edinburgh, Scotland) The USA posted a 19-4 win over England making it the only team at the 2015 FIL Rathbones U19 Women’s World Lacrosse Championship to finish Pool A play with a perfect 5-0 record.
During its five-game streak, the USA squad averaged 18 goals per game and outscored its competition 89-19. The narrowest margin of victory was six goals, a 15-9 hard fought win over Canada on opening day that was tied 7-7 at the half. Since then, the USA has been on a roll offensively and defensively earning 18-0 shutout victories over Wales (1-4) and Israel (0-5) along the way. In both of those games, the USA defense gave up no shots on goal.
In other action, Canada posted a 20-0 shutout win over the Republic of Korea (1-4). After dropping their first game to the USA, Canada won four straight to finish pool play at 4-1. The Cardiac Canadians also offered fans two amazing and entertaining back-to-back golden goal double overtime wins — the first an 11-10 win over Australia and the second a 9-8 thriller over England. Canada’s Lydia Sutton scored both sudden victory golden goal¹ game winners. Scotland (4-1) finished atop Pool B with a 21-9 victory over Finland (2-3) and Japan (4-1) finished first in Pool C with a 21-1 over Israel.
Remaining winners were the Czech Republic over Colombia 22-7, New Zealand 17-6 over Germany and Australia over Wales 19-3.
