Successful Fundraising Professional and Lacrosse Player Aimee Dixon Joins FIL as Director of Private Donor Fundraising
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – An accomplished fundraising professional with extensive experience in the sport of lacrosse as a player, administrator and volunteer is joining the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) as Director of Private Donor Fundraising.
Aimee Dixon, who earned Big East All-Academic honors while playing varsity lacrosse at the University of Louisville before beginning a highly successful career in management and philanthropy, will begin her duties with FIL later this month. Dixon’s appointment was announced today by FIL Chief Executive Officer Jim Scherr.
Dixon will work closely with Scherr, FIL President Sue Redfern and the FIL Board of Directors in designing and implementing private-giving strategies that support the mission of the international federation and contribute to the continued growth of lacrosse worldwide.
“Aimee’s expertise in private donor fundraising, combined with her passion for lacrosse and history of success as an athlete and administrator, makes her an ideal addition to our team,” said Scherr. “We are exceptionally pleased to welcome Aimee to FIL and look forward to her many contributions in support of our mission.”

Dixon joins FIL from Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where for the past three years she has been a part of the administrative support for a team that successfully raised more than $5.5 million for the Stem Cell Program and $789 million for the World is Waiting Campaign. Funds raised provide critical support for world-class research, patient care and family services at Boston Children’s Hospital, one of the leading children’s hospitals in the world.
Prior to Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Dixon held concurrent roles with Unfound Content, a video production and talent management agency focused on social awareness, where she was responsible for securing more than $2 million in private investment for projects; and, as Associate Business Development Director at The Program, a leadership development firm that utilizes the values and lessons of sport as a framework for executive training.
From 2012-14, Dixon utilized her deep background and commitment to the sport of lacrosse while working for Fields of Growth International – first as an Associate Director in Fundraising, then as Interim Executive Director. At Fields of Growth, Dixon designed and directed the Team 2014 campaign to bring Team Uganda to the 2014 Lacrosse World Championships. The successful campaign reached more than 2,000 first-time donors across multiple continents and ensured Uganda’s participation in the Lacrosse World Championships for the first time ever.
Dixon began her professional career in 2011 as a Government Affairs Associate with the United States Olympic Committee, before holding a similar role with Active Policy Solutions, a Washington, DC-based government relations consulting firm, in 2012.
A recipient of numerous awards for volunteer service, Dixon has provided pro bono support for the Bill Belichick Foundation, which works to provide coaching, mentorship and financial support to individuals, communities and organizations – with a specific focus on American football and lacrosse. In recognition of their collaborative efforts, in 2015, Fields of Growth International dedicated a sports field to Coach Belichick and a sports pavilion to Dixon.
