Quotables

Czechia’s Pavel Dosly on the team’s plan heading into the 18-5 win over Scotland.
We tried to keep as low-scoring as we could. We also wanted to win by at least 12.
Italy’s Lucas Dudemaine on his team making the play-in round after starting the day last in the pool:
It feels really good. I think the message today was just play as a team, play as a unit. We just kind of stacked all the little things that got us to a great feeling at the end.
Germany head coach Brian Tyacke on his team ahead of the play-in round:
They’ve shown that they belong here and are very comfortable. We’re getting progressively better every single game, and it’s great to see the lack of nerves and progressions in development.”
Japan head coach Naofumi Suzuki on Russel Bollinger, the youngest inclusion in the squad:
I mean, he’s the superstar.
Slovakia goalkeeper Lee Jackman on his team’s spirit after making 51 saves:
I was telling the guys, ‘it’s a lot easier to keep battling and keep making saves when no one gives up.’ No one on this team stopped moving.
