Quotables

Czechia’s Stepan Friedl on the team’s unique flair on display in its opening game:
I think it’s a bit of a highlight to Czech lacrosse. We like to be more creative, maybe because we don’t have too many big guys, but creativity is our weapon.
Canada’s Dhane Smith on the team’s attacking balance so far:
We can rely on anyone, and it’s not on one person’s back. That’s what’s making it fun, it’s not one guy going in every time, it’s about spreading it around.
Ireland’s Sean Gibson on his 100th cap, 17 years after his first:
I took draws in my first cap. I took some face-offs today and I hadn’t done that in a few years. It’s an honor and a blessing every time I get to step on the field.
Canada’s Dacia Cordingley on the challenge of playing women’s box on consecutive days:
It’s a very good mental block for us. We’ve always have to be thinking when we’re playing, so it’s a very good opportunity for us to work when we’re tired.
