The United States prevailed 7-6 over rival Canada in pool play at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship in Seogwipo, Korea, making a crucial stop in the dying seconds for a riveting victory.
The United States led by four goals at 7-3 in the third quarter, but Canada rallied with goals from Jared Maznik and Max Frattaroli in the fourth to get within one.
Canada had the next attempt down one with three minutes to go, but Patrick Jamieson made a save and got the ball back to the United States to see the game out.
Owen Duffy thought he had scored his fourth goal with just over a minute to go, but was ruled for a crease violation, and Canada set up a final play to go for a late tie. Luke Robinson took the shot with eight seconds left, but Jamieson stepped up again with the game-winning stop.

The two teams treated the invested crowd on hand on Saturday morning at Gongcheonpo Training Center to another classic chapter of their rivalry, and set the stage for a dramatic finish ahead in the final days of the tournament.
Both teams will automatically advance to the quarterfinals via their spots in Pool A, and could meet again in a semifinal or medal round blockbuster. The two teams have met in the final for the last six editions of the championship,.
The two sides battled to a narrow margin, as the United States outshot Canada by just four and won eight out of the 15 face-offs.
Jamieson’s four saves were crucial on seven shots faced, but Canada’s goalkeepers combined for nine including seven from Grayson Manning.
Duffy’s hat trick powered the United States, while Brendan Millon provided a goal and two assists. Jack Speidell scored the seventh goal for the United States that would end up as the game-winner.
Frattoli and Maznik had two goals each for Canada.
The United States faces the Haudenosaunee on Sunday while Canada takes on Australia on Monday.
