World Lacrosse today announced an exclusive multi-year partnership with global Nike licensee Athlete Performance Solutions and the Nike Lacrosse brand. The partnership designates Nike Lacrosse as the Global Footwear and Apparel Partner for the International Federation through 2028.
As part of the partnership, Nike Lacrosse will provide all apparel and footwear for staff at WL championships. In addition, Nike Lacrosse will create a collection of co-branded apparel for consumer sale.
The historic agreement marks the first in the new Global Partner category for World Lacrosse, spanning its portfolio of quadrennial championship events.
World Lacrosse CEO Jim Scherr said: “I am thrilled to announce this first-of-its kind partnership for World Lacrosse with a truly global brand and a leader in sports footwear and apparel. This partnership reflects the rapid ascension of lacrosse as a worldwide sport, and I am excited for Nike Lacrosse and World Lacrosse’s collective vision to produce a new standard for the global lacrosse fan that matches our Olympic vision.”
In recent years, WL has seen exponential growth, including by increasing membership to 92 National Federations across all five continental regions and seeing a significantly expanded fanbase as evidenced by broadcast viewership, and digital audience and engagement.
Over the next four years, World Lacrosse will host six world championship events, including the first sixes championships featuring the top men and women in the world in the sport’s fastest discipline as they seek to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games.
