World Lacrosse celebrates International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

On April 6, World Lacrosse is celebrating the International Day for Sport Development and Peace. The day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness for the potential of sport to contribute to the UN’s goals of development and peace.

The United Nations has long recognized the power and universality of sport, using it to unite individuals and groups through supporting sport for development efforts, participating in events from the global to the grassroots level, and developing its own sports-related campaigns and initiatives.

The global theme for the 2024 observance of the day is “Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies.”

World Lacrosse shares these beliefs about the power of sport, and part of its mission is supporting the development of lacrosse throughout the world. Additionally, World Lacrosse’s core values are teamwork, integrity, passion, friendship, respect and inclusiveness.

To celebrate IDSDP 2024, WL is sharing a collection of photos from its championships that promote the spirit of lacrosse and its power to transcend borders and make positive impacts on its entire community.
