(ONONDAGA NATION) Below is a recap of the four games played on Day Seven (Thursday) of the 2015 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.
QUARTERFINAL: Israel 13, Czech Republic 12
Israel edged the Czech Republic 13-12 to advance to the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship semifinals, where it will play Canada at 4:30 p.m. at Onondaga Arena.
Israel is one of six teams taking part in the WILC for the first time.
Noah Miller’s third goal with just under 10 minutes left that put the Israelis up by two proved to be just enough. The Czech’s rallied from an early 5-0 first-quarter deficit to pull within 8-7 early in the third quarter, but could never take the lead.
?íha Jakub tied it at 10 with five minutes left in the third before Israel scored two straight on a power play goal by Dan Deckelbaum and a shorthanded score from Chad Culp to make it 12-10 with 13 minutes to go. The teams swapped goals, including Miller’s final tally, and Koš?ál Ji?í scored for the Czech Republic, then Israel held on for the final 3:11 to secure the win.
QUARTERFINAL: USA 22, Ireland 2
Casey Powell and Drew Snider scored four goals each as the United States defeated Ireland Thursday. The United States will play the Iroquois in Friday’s other semifinal at 7:30 p.m. at Onondaga Arena.
