(Press Release) Russia, which will be playing in the Federation of International Lacrosse Men’s World Championship for the first time ever, has announced its roster for the 2014 championship set for July 10-19 in Commerce City, Colo.
Russia is one of nine first-time entrants in the record 38-team field and will participate in the Plum Division with Argentina, New Zealand and Wales during pool play. Russia’s first game will be against Wales on July 11.
Serving as the head coach for Russia is Peter Milliman, currently the defensive coordinator at Cornell University, which is playing in the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship. A three-time All-American at Gettysburg and former Major League Lacrosse player with Rochester, Milliman was also an assistant coach at Princeton, R.I.T. and Siena, and spent four years as the head coach at Pfeiffer College. Included on his coaching staff is National Lacrosse Hall of Famer Joe Cuozzo, who won over 700 games as a high school coach in New York.
