Ghent, Belgium
Today was Day 2 of the three day World Lacrosse Coaching and Athlete Development clinics made possible by a Balls, Cockerton, and Hayes Grant, along with support from the European Lacrosse Federation. The day started off with the coaches in a classroom session learning about the art of being an exceptional youth lacrosse coach. The curriculum included sessions on Practice Planning, Drill Design, and meeting every athletes needs. Immediately following the classroom session and with the mentorship of World Lacrosse clinicians Jane Pirie, Natalie Wills, Development Committee Chair Rick Mercurio and Director of Sport Development TJ Buchanan the coaches conducted a clinic for local Belgian youth players. Each of coaches led stations designed to provide maximum participation for the athletes, while testing out the new coaching techniques the learned earlier in the day. Sunday, September 8th will be the final day of the clinics, with the coaches bringing a practice plan of their own creation to implement with the returning athletes.
