Israel pulled away from Germany with a strong second half to claim a 14-8 win on day four of the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship at Shek Kip Mei Sports Park.
Israel earned its first win in Pool A thanks to a six-goal run that largely took place in the third quarter to answer a three-goal run from Germany.
Israel’s goalkeeper Tori Bates made nine saves on 17 shots faced, including three stops in the second that quarter that frustrated the Germany attack when it was trying to close the game. Bates was named the player of the match in a game where the overall shot difference between both teams was just four shots.
Sarah Marcovici scored four goals and added an assist and keyed the Israel effort in front of goal. Corey Kumin added three goals and two assists while Racheli Levy-Smith recorded three goals and an assist and 13 individual draw controls.
Carlotte Gerke scored three goals and added an assist for Germany.
Israel closes out pool play on Tuesday against the United States while Germany finishes pool play on Tuesday against Puerto Rico.
