Ireland banked its second win at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship with a 20-5 victory over the host Hong Kong, China in the first game of day four.
Ireland impressed on day two with a thrilling win over Japan and backed up that performance after its day off.
Seven different players scored two or more goals in a balanced attacking showing. Ava Connaughton earned the player of the match award with three goals, and was supported by Brigid Welch (two goals, four assists), Bridget Valentine (four goals, one assist) and Kendra Harris (three goals, one assist).
Elizabeth Watts, Caroline Watts and Jane Howlett combined to give Ireland a 17 of 24 win rate on draw controls.
Ireland has been one of the stories of the championship so far, and can keep its campaign going with a game against Jamaica on Monday and an exciting clash against England on Tuesday.
Hong Kong, China has a day off on Monday before closing out pool play against Japan on Tuesday.
