FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 14, 2018
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO —The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) has completed a reorganization of its governance structure and elected two new independent directors to its Board of Directors.
The Board has appointed Peter Guber and David Ryan to the newly-created independent director positions.
FIL recently amended its governance documents to expand the board representatives with two Independent Directors. The addition of these two new positions will assist FIL with focusing in on its key priorities: Olympic inclusion strategy; reimagine the world championship and continental competition platforms; and international country development.
“FIL is exceptionally pleased to be adding two individuals with the skills and experience that Peter Guber and David Ryan possess to its Board of Directors and looks forward to the positive contribution they will make,” said Sue Redfern, FIL President. “The Board and General Assembly have embraced a need for change and development of lacrosse worldwide in line with the newly approved strategic plan focusing on FIL’s Olympic vision.”
Guber is a preeminent entrepreneur in the entertainment, sports, and communications industries for more than 30 years.  Guber is the owner and co-executive Chairman of the Golden State Warriors and is co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Executive Chairman and Owner of the Los Angeles Football Club.  He is a full professor at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and has been a member of the faculty for over 30 years.  He played lacrosse at Syracuse University.
Ryan has spent his entire professional career in international finance.  He spent 22 years at Goldman Sachs & Co., ultimately serving as the firm’s President of Asia Pacific (ex Japan), while sitting on Goldman Sachs’ Management Committee.  Ryan is currently a member of the board of Mapletree Investments and ADT Security Services, as well as a Senior Director of Goldman Sachs and a Corporate Advisor to Temasek, the Singapore government investment company.  He played collegiate lacrosse at Yale University.
