December 20, 2018
New York, NY – Federation for International Lacrosse (FIL), the International Governing Federation for the sport of lacrosse, has appointed TSE Consulting (TSE), the international management consulting firm specializing in sport performance, to review their organizational structure along with their sport development initiatives to help position the sport for consideration for inclusion in major international competitions.
Creating a structure and culture that promotes the growth of the sport of lacrosse around the world is important in establishing a good foundation for FIL to invest their resources towards as they prepare for the future. FIL has a rich tradition of offering programs that support the growth of lacrosse and looks forward to expanding those programs.  TSE has significant experience working with international sport governing bodies in the areas of organizational capabilities and growth of the sport. The international sport landscape has created a need for all international federations to increase their capabilities for operating their organizations while developing their sport on a global scale. The FIL Development Committee has assisted in increasing global awareness and lacrosse participation. In the past 16 years membership has increased 244% and we now have 62 nations participating.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity to work closely with TSE and FIL CEO Jim Scherr. Their expertise will help provide implementation of services and structure to continue to support lacrosse development throughout the world”, said Bob Demarco, FIL Development Director.
FIL Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jim Scherr, commented: “We are embarking on this project in the hopes to strengthen our structure and programming to support our goals for bringing the sport of lacrosse to a much wider audience around the world. This is a critical stage for our organization to assess our current structure along with our policies to enhance the culture of FIL to promote high performance. TSE Consulting came highly recommended and their extensive experience working in these areas will be a great asset to us. We look forward to working with such a skilled and experienced organization.”
Mr. Steve Roush, TSE Head of Sport Performance, commented: “To partner with FIL in this project is extremely exciting for TSE and our Sport Performance group. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in North America in both popularity and participation. With this type of momentum, it is vital for FIL to create an organization that supports this level of interest in their sport.”
