The European Lacrosse Federation (ELF) and World Lacrosse partnered during the first European U20 Lacrosse Championship hosted by the Czech Republic to afford the attending officials an opportunity to be coached and trained for the entire tournament. There were a total of 17 officials that officiated 24 games in the 8 day tournament.
The ELF admin team of RIC Sven Keizer, DRICs Jasper van der Horst and Rob Gross handled all pregame training and the day to day duties during the tournament while World Lacrosse official coaches Tom Sutton and Brent Coulombe focused on referee development. “I would like to thank the ELF for organizing the event to include the coaching of officials,” stated Tom Sutton. There were varying levels of officials and all participated and enjoyed the opportunity.
