COQUITLAM, BC— The United States closed out round-robin play with a perfect 4-0 record, defeating England (0-4) 19-6, and the Iroquois Nationals, Ireland, Germany, Israel and Scotland won other games at the 2016 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Under-19 Men’s Lacrosse World Championships presented by Novus at Coquitlam Town Centre.

USA 19, ENGLAND 6 – GAME SHEET
The United States posted a perfect 4-0 record in the round-robin and advance to Thursday’s first semifinal after a dominant 19-6 win over England. Alex Roesner (4G), Ryan Conrad (3G, 1A), Timmy Kelly (3G, 1A), Dox Aitken (2G), Tyler Dunn (2G), Michael Sowers (1G, 2A), Jake Bernhardt (1G, 2A), Brad Smith (1G, 1A), Austin Henningsen (1G) and Bryan Costabile (1G) scored for the Americans, with Phillip Goss making 4 saves for the win. Austin Hudson (2G) and Alex Russell (2G) paced the England offence, with singles coming from Oliver Curtis and Elliot Leonard. William Hudson made 14 saves in a valiant effort in the England net before Hal Dwobeng came in to make five saves in the fourth quarter. For the second straight night, it took the Americans a quarter to find their rhythm with the teams tied at 2 after the opening 20 minutes. But the U.S. scored the first goal of the second quarter, opening up the flood gates for seven second-quarter tallies. The U.S. will play in the first semifinal Thursday against either Australia or Israel.
IROQUOIS NATIONALS 16, AUSTRALIA 5 – GAME SHEET
The Iroquois Nationals (2-2) clinched third spot in the Blue Division with a 16-5 win over Australia (1-3). For the Iroquois, offensive skill and depth proved to be the difference as Tehoka Nanticoke (5G, 2A), Devon Buckshot (3G), Matthew Bennett (3G), Austin Staats (2G, 4A), Jonah Mohawk (1G, 1A), Skklyar Thomas (1G) and Doug Jamieson (1G) scored. Australia had goals from Matthew Wood (3G), Ryan Hockey (1G, 1A) and Pius Bonjui (1G). Australia finishes in fourth place and will face undefeated Israel (4-0) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and the Iroquois will face Ireland at 12:30 p.m. – both games are at the stadium. The winner of the Iroquois-Ireland game will face Canada in the semifinals.
IRELAND 15, CHINA 7 – GAME SHEET
Rory Madigan’s six goals led Ireland to a come-from-behind 15-7 win over China to take first place in the Green Division. Ireland (3-0) trailed China (2-1) 6-5 at halftime, but stormed out of the gate in the second half, rattling off six unanswered goals, to put the game away. Conor Austin and Tom Lyons had hat tricks for the Irish, while Patrick Magliocchino added two goals and Connor Krusac scored one. For China, Kurtis Shum, Eric Wang and Kevin Dong had two goals apiece, while Matthew McIlwrick added a single. Ireland will take on the Iroquois Nationals in their first playoff game, on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. China will face Germany on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
GERMANY 14, HONG KONG 3 – GAME SHEET
After a very entertaining opening 30 minutes, Germany pulled away on a 12-0 run to defeat Hong Kong 14-3. Soren Spiegel (4G, 1A) and Jeremiah Vanderkin-Jus (3G) led the Germany offence, with Paul Grube (2G), Per-Anders Olters (2G), Leonard Noring (1G, 1A), Valts Grasis (1G, 1A), and Florian Werner (1G) also scoring. Siu On Ng, Jeremy Cheng and Bryan Houghton scored for Hong Kong. Germany will face China on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. on Field 2. If they win they would face England on Thursday and can finish as high as 5th. Hong Kong will face the winner of Wednesday’s Mexico-Scotland quarter-final on Thursday at 1 p.m. (Stadium) and can finish as high as 9th.
ISRAEL 13, MEXICO 2 – GAME SHEET
Israel remained unbeaten with a big 13-2 win over Mexico on Tuesday morning. Joshua Bernstein led Israel with four goals, with Nick Schulkin and Yotam Drori adding a pair each. Single goals came from Sagi Hashai, Adam Hilelly, Liron Glam, Yanai Bittman and Ilan Hascal. David Metzger made five saves to earn the win, with Jonah Hirshorn playing the second half and making four saves. Mexico’s goals came from Martin Vallebona and Tlaloc Orozco-Cohen. Goalkeeper Alec Gastony made 11 saves in Mexico’s net.
SCOTLAND 15, KOREA 3 – GAME SHEET
Corrie Bruce scored four goals to lead Scotland as they cruised to their first win of the tournament, 15-3 over Korea. Scotland (1-2) broke the game open with four unanswered goals in the second period, and cruised to the win over the winless Koreans (0-3). Edward Fennell netted a hat trick for the Scots, while Charles Stewart-Syme, Calmen Tihansky and Frazer Hunter had a pair each. Singles by Josh Richardson and Colin Uyeki rounded out the scoring. Uyeki added seven assists to finish with a game-high eight points. For Korea, Joshua Spain scored twice, while Colin Lee found the net once. Scotland finishes third in the Green Division, while Korea finishes in fourth place. Korea will open the playoffs on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. against Taiwan, while Scotland will face Mexico on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
