Australia completed a 4-0 campaign in Pool C at the women’s U20 championship in Hong Kong, China with a day five 19-6 win over Mexico at Shek Kip Mei Sports Park.
Australia entered the day with the top spot in Pool C already locked up. It will enter the quarterfinals on Wednesday as a top three seed, with it final seed determined after pool play concludes on Tuesday.
While Australia maximized its single-game goal differential, which is capped at 12, in all four wins, it will likely be the No. 3 seed since the next tiebreaker is goals conceded and the United States and Canada have conceded 17 and 16 less goals overall than Australia with just one game remaining for both teams. The winner of Pool D cannot catch Australia in goal differential.
