Bob DeMarco
President
Bob DeMarco serves as World Lacrosse President following his election in November 2024. He previously served as Director of Development on the board since 2017 having been part of the global community for years.
DeMarco served as FIL (now World Lacrosse) Development Committee chair from 2014 through his appointment to the board. From 2011 to 2014, he served as an FIL development representative, providing equipment grants and conducting development clinics in several developing countries. Overall, DeMarco has guided the development team as it increased membership from 35 to 92 National Governing Bodies.
DeMarco was influential in the formation of the Pan-American Lacrosse Association and the Africa Association of Lacrosse, which have helped regional governance, development and the proliferation of the the international event calendar as continental federations.
Additionally, DeMarco played an integral role in the successful transition of World Lacrosse operational activities managed by staff and contributed to essential fundraising and Olympic inclusion efforts. He received the World Lacrosse Olympic Recognition Award in 2018.
DeMarco has also served on the Nominations Committee and the Membership and Awards working groups at World Lacrosse.
A longtime member of the Long Island Lacrosse Club, DeMarco is a graduate of Hofstra University, where he was a standout dual-sport athlete in American football and lacrosse. He was inducted in 2004 into the New Jersey Football Coaches Hall of Fame in recognition of his 30-year coaching career at Old Bridge High School in Matawan, New Jersey, where he won two state championships.
DeMarco has a long history of involvement with international lacrosse, serving as an administrative assistant with the U.S. men’s lacrosse team at the International Lacrosse Federation’s 1974 World Championship. He also coached with the legendary Tom Hayes at Rutgers University for more than 20 years.
