Media Accreditation Guidelines
The following policy was developed by World Lacrosse to ensure that all qualified media have the appropriate access and space at championship events, and that a safe and professional environment is maintained.
Criteria
- Accreditation may be issued to professional working members of the media representing recognized outlets in the business of news gathering. Credentials are granted at the discretion of World Lacrosse, and the relevant National Governing Body and Local Organizing Committee. Media outlets eligible for accreditation include newspapers, websites, magazines, wire services, photo agencies, and television and radio stations.
- The dissemination of editorial content must be the primary purpose of the media outlet.
- Media outlets must demonstrate a record of sustained, original sports coverage.
- Accreditation will not be issued to representatives whose outlet exists solely as a platform for distributing unoriginal content (press releases, aggregate news, etc.).
- Accreditation will not be issued to representatives who are not writing or producing programs for immediate dissemination (i.e., to be published or air within one week of the conclusion of the event).
- Freelance reporters and photographers must provide proof of assignment from a recognized media outlet. In that case, accreditation applications must be accompanied by a letter or email from the sports editor, sports director/producer or photo editor of the media outlet for which the work is contracted.
- Film or documentary crews must undergo a separate approval process with World Lacrosse and its rights-holding broadcaster, and will be subject to licensing fees for any game footage obtained.
- Bloggers and/or social media content creators may be considered on a case-by-case basis for accreditation at the sole discretion of World Lacrosse.
Terms and Conditions
- World Lacrosse, and the relevant National Governing Body and Local Organizing Committee reserve the right to refuse accreditation.
- Accreditations are non-transferable.
- Media must abide by the News Access Rules, which are published prior to the event.
- Media must remain in designated and authorized areas.
- Usage of provided internet in all official media areas is for work-related purposes only.
- Media should respect the work environment of their colleagues by maintaining a quiet and professional atmosphere in all working media areas.
- Information and images collected at World Lacrosse events are to be used solely for news and editorial purposes. No commercial use is permitted without prior consent.
- Approved applicants are required to present valid identification, sign for and collect their accreditation, and by doing so agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
- Breach of event policies, or terms and conditions may result in the immediate revocation of accreditation.
News Access Guidelines
Only rights-holding broadcasters, World Lacrosse and competing team personnel are allowed to film game action at World Lacrosse events.
Non-rights holding media may record press conferences and interviews with athletes, coaches and officials in designated media interview areas.
‘Non-rights holders must contact World Lacrosse to obtain game footage for news highlights, subject to restrictions set prior to each event.
