The path to the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship begins with the 2025 European Men’s Lacrosse Championship, set for July 9–19 in Wroclaw, Poland. The event returns to Poland for the second consecutive edition and will take place at the Wroclaw University of Health and Sport Sciences.

The championship will feature 24 teams playing 90 total games. It is the first continental qualifier for the 2027 World Championship, which will be held in Japan. The top seven teams will qualify for the Division I Championship, and the next 14 will qualify for the Division II Championship. The 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship will feature the top 16 field lacrosse teams in the world.
Teams are divided into five pools, with pool play running from July 9–14. Up to 10 games will be played each day. The playoff and placement rounds begin Tuesday, July 15. The top eight teams will advance to the quarterfinals, with the gold medal game scheduled for July 19 at 6 p.m. Central European Time.
Live statistics and results will be available online here, and all games will be streamed on LaxTV and WL TV. The tournament opens with host nation Poland taking on Czechia at 7 p.m. Central European Time.
Czechia went undefeated at the 2022 European Qualifiers, with close wins over Poland, Norway and the Netherlands. Tomáš Knotek led the team with 13 goals and one assist, while Pavel Došlý added six goals and seven assists. Czechia finished 22nd at the 2023 World Championship, defeating Sweden in overtime to close out the campaign.
England posted the best finish among European Lacrosse Federation members at the 2023 World Championship, placing sixth. After falling to Australia in the quarterfinals, England lost to Japan in the fifth-place game. Sean Goldsmith led the team with 12 points, while goalie William Baxter recorded 40 saves. England has consistently placed between fourth and sixth in all world championships appearances.
Germany went 3-1 in pool play at the 2023 World Championship with wins over Poland, Switzerland and New Zealand. After a loss to Japan in the playoff bracket, Germany beat Ireland to finish 11th overall. Germany ranked in the top 10 in goals, assists and shooting percentage. Per-Anders Olters scored 21 goals and totaled 27 points. He finished third overall for points and tied for the tournament lead in goals.
Ireland went 4-0 in pool play in 2023 before falling to Israel and later Germany in overtime to finish 12th. The team ranked in the top 10 in save percentage with goalies Conor Kelly and Joe Walsh. Conor Foley led Ireland with 16 goals and eight assists, while Patrick Corbett also surpassed 20 points.
Israel finished seventh for the third consecutive World Championship in 2023. After a 4-0 pool play run, Israel lost to the United States in the quarterfinals but went on to defeat Jamaica in overtime. Israel ranked eighth in assists (34), fifth in saves (58) and fifth in save percentage (54.7%). Nathaniel Solomon led the team with 16 goals, while Robert Schain contributed a team-high 12 assists.
Italy achieved its best-ever World Championship finish in 2023, placing ninth. The team went 4-0 in pool play, lost to Jamaica, then beat Germany before falling to Puerto Rico in the ninth-place game. Italy’s offense ranked second in goals, assists and shooting percentage. Christian Cuccinello led the tournament with 35 points and Will Vitelli finished second in faceoff wins with 74.
The Netherlands finished 4-1 at the 2022 European Qualifiers, with its only loss coming against Czechia in the final game. The team impressed at the faceoff, winning 56.6% of draws behind the duo of Wieland Müskens and Mats Postema. Alderik van der Heyde led the team in points, goals and assists. At the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship, the Netherlands went 3-1 in pool play and ultimately placed 14th after a loss to Hong Kong in the 13th-place game.
Poland will serve as the host nation of the European Men’s Lacrosse Championship for the second consecutive time, having also hosted the 2022 edition. In 2022, Poland finished 3-2 with wins over Greece, Norway and Portugal. Ryszard Matkowski led the team with 11 goals and two assists, while Gregory Marzec won 43 of 68 faceoffs. In 2023, Poland finished 19th at the World Championship. Each of its three losses was decided by no more than two goals, and the team ranked 10th in goals allowed.
Switzerland also went undefeated at the 2022 European Qualifiers, with three of five wins decided by a single goal. Felix Stutz led the way with seven goals and eight assists. Switzerland placed 26th at the 2023 World Championship.
Wales dominated the 2022 European Qualifiers with an average goal differential of 8.8 and never allowed more than four goals in a game. Alexander Williams led the offense with 10 goals and eight assists. Wales placed 18th at the 2023 World Championship.
This event marks the first continental qualifier for the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship. The top 16 Men’s field lacrosse teams in the world will compete based on the following allocations by Continental Federation:

2027 will mark the first Men’s Championship in World Lacrosse’s new championship format, with 16 teams competing based on results from continental qualifiers. All 16 teams must earn their place in the championship at a qualifying event, except for Japan, which automatically qualified as the host nation. World Lacrosse will also host a Division II Men’s Championship in 2026 with an additional 24 teams participating.
