Ireland won its second overtime thriller in a row at the Women’s European Sixes Qualifier on Sunday in Portugal, knocking off Czechia in the final, 12-11.
The win came after Ireland pulled off a semifinal overtime victory over Israel, 11-10, on Saturday. Czechia took the silver medal, with both Ireland and Czechia securing qualification at The World Games, set for August in Chengdu, China.
Czechia took the lead in the final through Isabella Keyes with just over two minutes to play, but Kendra Harris tied the game with 52 seconds remaining. Margaret Egan fired in the title-winning goal a minute into overtime.

Israel and Germany met in a nailbiter in the third-place game, with Israel holding on 7-6 in a low-scoring affair.
Elsewhere, Poland stunned the Netherlands for fifth place with a 9-8 win, and Switzerland bested Spain for seventh. France and Norway ended their campaigns with wins as well.

Through five days of action, Sophie Koedood of the Netherlands ended the qualifier with the most points, tallying 29 on 22 goals and seven assists. Michaela Srchova of Czechia and Rachel Rosenberg of Israel finished with 28 points each.
Ireland’s Haley Crosson finished the event with the most total saves at 73, and Czechia’s Katerina Najemnikova posted the best save percentage at 65 percent.
