Ann Hutchings

Ann had a long history of lacrosse involvement, having participated as a player, manager and coach before turning her attention to officiating. She played for England/Great Britain between 1977-1982, managed the England national team between 1992-95 and also coached the England Development team in 1994. Her focus on officiating began in the late 90’s and she began her international involvement at the UK Home Internationals in 1999.

Ann worked as an Umpire and Technical Delegate at many of the international events on the lacrosse calendar including the 2007 and 2011 U19 World Championships, the 2009 and 2013 World Cups, the Berlin Open, the Prague Cup, European Championships, the German Championships and the UK Home Internationals.

Known to many as ‘Hutch’, Ann led the largest group of officials ever gathered together at the 2013 Women’s World Cup and will be remembered for her poise, professionalism, everlasting smile and outstanding dedication to the world of women’s lacrosse. Ann had friends all over the world with many umpires having been touched and nurtured by her welcoming and friendly manner. The many public tributes already expressed about Ann are a true testament to the impact she has had on our global lacrosse community.

Our condolences are extended to her family and friends.
