Athlete Spotlight: Kokoro Nakazawa

Kokoro Nakazawa was named to the Women’s U19 All-World Team at the 2019 Women’s U19 World Championship in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. She helped Japan tie its best performance at this event, coming in fifth place.

Nakazawa is from Yokohama, Japan and made her international lacrosse debut memorable. She scored 23 goals and grabbed 45 draw controls in the tournament. Nakazawa also made an appearance for Team Japan at the 2022 Women’s World Championship, finishing fifth overall.

Nakazawa just finished her senior year at the University of Louisville. Throughout her career, she has appeared in 67 games, racking up 105 goals and dishing out 48 assists. She ended her career on a 24-game goal-scoring streak that dated back to 2023. She was named to the IWLCA West/Midwest All-Region First Team for her performance this past season.
