Day four at the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship Division II featured two battles at the top of both pools between four undefeated teams.
Mexico bested Italy and secured the top spot in Pool B, although Italy also qualified for the playoffs through the rest of the day’s results.
New Zealand scored two late goals in a nail-biting win over Korea to take a temporary hold of top spot in Pool A, but Latvia looms in third place and faces New Zealand on the final day of pool play.
Elsewhere, Poland hung on for its second win against a ferocious comeback from Switzerland.

In a battle of two 3-0 teams atop Pool B, Mexico prevailed thanks to another one of its opening flurries. Mexico went into halftime up 8-1 on the back of a 5-0 second quarter and Italy’s comeback effort only got within three. Mexico improved to 4-0 and secured its spot in the semifinals set to begin Thursday.
At 3-1, Italy also qualified for the playoffs after the end of the day’s action since neither Hong Kong, China nor Poland can advance over Italy on day five.
Izzy Szejk stepped up for Mexico with four goals while Ashleigh Rothe added three goals and a point. Szejk was named the player of the game for Mexico.

New Zealand and Korea were both 3-0 heading into the day and battling for the top spot in Pool A, but New Zealand’s final push was the difference in a nail-biting affair. Korea led 5-2 at halftime, and New Zealand rallied with four goals in the third to lead by one. Korea tied, but New Zealand got a key goal with seven minutes to go before a lightning delay, and then finished the game off with an insurance goal in the final minute.
New Zealand improved to 4-0, and put themselves one win away from clinching Pool A, with a matchup against the 3-1 Latvia tomorrow. At 3-1, Korea needs to win
Sarah Butler stepped up for New Zealand again with four points, while Lizzie Hardiman made three saves in the second half in net. Holly Harris added two goals and was named the player of the game.

Hong Kong, China notched its second win of the championship with a complete performance against Norway.
Sally Tang led a balanced Hong Kong attack with four goals and an assist while Sumyuet Cheng added a goal and three assists. Aili Miller also recorded a hat trick and was named the player of the game.

Latvia and Spain entertained on day four in a rollercoaster contest, with Spain tying the game at eight-apiece with six minutes to go. Latvia shifted into a higher gear and ripped off four goals in four minutes, including a personal 3-0 run from Mara Zajac to finally give Latvia the win.
Latvia improved to 3-1 and faces New Zealand at 4-0 on the final day of pool play, with an opportunity to shake up Pool A. Latvia needs to win by three or more goals to definitively clinch its playoff spot.
Liga Vilka was key for Latvia in goal with 11 saves throughout the game, including two in the fourth quarter, and was named player of the match. Alma Naja added four points.
