Four women’s teams and three men’s teams secured seven of the 10 qualification spots for the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships on day four of the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships on Friday in Oshawa, Canada.
Eight of the spots go to the top two teams in each pool, while the third-place teams meet in Sunday’s fifth-place games for the final two. The 2027 WL Sixes Championships, set for October 4-10 in Colorado Springs, United States, are the primary qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The Puerto Rico and United States women qualified with wins earlier in Friday’s action. Puerto Rico prevailed in a hard-fought contest against Argentina after the two teams finished eighth and ninth at the Women’s Championship in Tokyo.
In the other pool, Canada and the Haudenosaunee also qualified with comfortable victories. Canada is the second-ranked women’s sixes team in the world, while the Haudenosaunee finished fourth at the Women’s Championship in Tokyo.
The United States men qualified with a win over Jamaica, securing a 3-0 pool play record and a spot in Sunday’s gold medal game.
The Canada men improved to 2-0 with a win over Mexico, joining the Haudenosaunee atop their pool and confirming both teams’ qualification. That leaves two spots remaining on the men’s side. The two teams meet Saturday for a spot in the gold medal game.
The final day of pool play in Oshawa on Saturday features dramatic battles for places in the decisive fifth-place games. On the women’s side, Argentina plays Brazil while Mexico faces Jamaica, and on the men’s side, Mexico meets Brazil. Puerto Rico can clinch the fourth men’s qualification spot with a win over Chile, which would also send Jamaica to the fifth-place game against the winner of Mexico v Brazil.
Canada and the Haudenosaunee then meet in a men’s and women’s doubleheader, with both games determining who advances to Sunday’s gold medal game. The United States and Puerto Rico women also play for a gold medal game spot, while the United States men have theirs locked up.
