Pan-American Lacrosse Association Announces Host Nation and Location for the 2020 PALA World Lacrosse Men’s Qualifier

AUBURNDALE, FLORIDA, USA — The Pan-American Lacrosse Association (PALA) is pleased to announce the Colombia Lacrosse Association will host the 2020 PALA World Lacrosse Men’s Qualifier in Medellin, Colombia. The competition will run from November 9 through November 13, 2020.

The tournament will qualify national teams from the Pan-American Region for the 2022 World Lacrosse Men’s World Championship.

“PALA hosted a very successful Women’s Qualifier at our headquarters in November of 2019. We are very pleased to have the Men’s qualifier played in South America in 2020,” said Katherine Loh, Secretary-General of PALA.

The Pan-American Continental Federation region has 14 World Lacrosse member-nations with Men’s lacrosse programs. World Lacrosse, moving into playing qualifying rounds for World Championship berths, allocated seven spots to PALA. Three countries pre-qualified from the 2018 World Lacrosse World Championship and they are Canada, USA and the Iroquois Nation. The remaining 11 countries competing for the 4 remaining allocations are Argentina, Bermuda, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, and Puerto Rico. Countries that successfully compete and earn a spot will move on to the 2022 World Lacrosse Men’s World Championship.

Adriana Piernagorda, President of the Colombia Lacrosse Association is looking forward to welcoming all the competing nations to the beautiful city of Medellin: “We want this competition to feel like a family reunion, where we learn and strengthen ourselves as a people and as a lacrosse family.”
