Hong Kong, China picked up its first win at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship in placement play on Thursday, defeating Kenya, 25-3.
Hong Kong’s 9-0 second quarter made the difference, and Hong Kong ended the day with a 50-25 shot advantage and 23 out of 28 face-offs won.
Both teams continue placement play in a round robin for 17th through 19th place. Hong Kong, China plays again on Saturday against Chinese Taipei while Kenya plays Chinese Taipei on Friday.
Carter Li led the Hong Kong output with six goals and four assists. Ethan Jones and Mike Mak both recorded seven points while Baron Lee and Anson Lai had four.
Andrew Ho and Danny Ng combined for eight saves and Jim Lai and Ken Lai both helped Hong Kong on face-offs.
Neval Otieno made seven saves for Kenya and Renny Gabriel scored twice.
