Gilman named Official Goal of World Lacrosse through 2028

World Lacrosse today announced Gilman Gear as the Official Goal of the International Federation in a multi-year partnership running through 2028.

Under the partnership, Gilman Gear lacrosse goals will be exclusively used in competition across World Lacrosse’s premier championship events, including:

  • World Lacrosse Women’s Championship (Tokyo, 2026)
  • World Lacrosse Men’s Championship (Japan, 2027)
  • World Lacrosse Sixes Championships (men + women, 2027)
  • World Lacrosse Box Championships (men + women, 2028)

World Lacrosse CEO Jim Scherr said: “Gilman has long been the global standard for lacrosse goals. Having a single, trusted goal across our championships provides consistency and reliability at the center of our sport for our athletes and teams. We are excited for the competition standard of lacrosse to improve as our sport accelerates toward the Olympics.”

Gilman lacrosse goals were introduced in 2015 with the aim of eliminating the need to string the goal and creating a distinctive sound when the ball strikes inside the net. The ‘ping’ signals a goal has been scored with the same distinctiveness as the swoosh of a basketball. The company also designed a box lacrosse version incorporating the same characteristics. Gilman is the Official Goal of the men’s and women’s NCAA Lacrosse Championships and is the sole supplier to the PLL.

Neil Gilman, president and CEO of Gilman Gear, said: “Gilman Gear designed and patented the lacrosse goal that eliminates stringing and makes the sweetest sound in all of lacrosse – the ping. Our mission was to elevate the sport by designing a goal that creates excitement and motivates those who play to score, and we are thrilled that the ping is now woven into the vocabulary of every lacrosse player. We are delighted that the Gilman Goal has been selected as the Official Goal of World Lacrosse, certifying our “Best in Class” designation.”

In addition to exclusive use in competition, the partnership with Gilman Gear includes digital integration across World Lacrosse’s owned digital channels, including WL TV.
