Canada kept Australia in check for a 13-4 win, its first at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship on Monday in Seogwipo, Korea.
Canada’s 4-0 second quarter made the difference, and the Canadians found their groove in the final frame with six goals to build some momentum towards the end of pool play.
Canada put together a workmanlike performance all around, going 14-19 on face-offs, shooting over 40%, assisting 10 of its 13 tallies and holding Australia to 13 shots on goal.
Canada improved to 1-1, while Australia fell to 1-1. Both teams will advance directly to the quarterfinals, but each has one matchup left to determine seeding.
Canada’s face-off edge was keyed by Jack Oldman. In goal, Cam Sterritt made six saves and Grayson Manning made three on 13 shots faced in a sharp collective effort.
Offensively, Max Frattaroli built on his strong performance against the United States with three goals and an assist on the day. Lucas Littlejohn and Luke Robinson both matched the same stat line as well. Jared Maznik was at the center of the action with six assists.
Will Butler made seven saves for Australia while Hudson Robb scored twice.
Canada closes pool play against the Haudenosaunee on Tuesday while Australia faces the United States.
