The top four seeds all advanced out of the men’s quarterfinals on Thursday.
Canada will face England at 4 p.m. while the United States will take on the Haudenosaunee at 7 p.m.

Canada – Japan
Canada eased past Japan, 22-4, in the first quarterfinal matchup of the day on Thursday.
After jumping out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead, Canada kept its foot on the gas the rest of the way.
Canada received four goals from Shayne Jackson, who also had six assists, and Robert Church. Jeff Teat totaled three goals and five assists and Wesley Berg had three goals and three assists. Dhane Smith added two goals and seven assists, and Josh Byrne tallied two goals and six assists. It was an attacking clinic from the Canadians, who finished with 33 assists on 22 goals.
Akiteru Saito finished with a goal and two assists on Japan’s side, and three other players found the back of the net.
Canada goalkeeper Nick Rose did his part with 31 saves on 35 shots. Kenta Ogawa (14 saves ) and Keita Hayashi (10 saves), who checked in at the start of the fourth quarter, each saw action for Japan.
Canada advances to face England in the semifinal on Friday at 4 p.m., and Japan will play Czechia in placement play at 1 p.m.
England – Czechia
England slowed down a previously undefeated Czechia team for its first win in Utica, a 13-8 takedown in the second quarterfinal of the men’s box championship.
After leading 4-1 eight minutes in, England led by at least two for the rest of the contest, with a crucial goal coming six seconds before halftime to restore the lead to 8-5.
Czechia cut it 8-6 after eight scoreless minutes in the third quarter, but England responded with a five-goal run in 10 minutes to knock out the Czechs.
Jack Royer’s four goals and an assist in addition to a hat-trick and three assists from Lyndon Bunio did the heavy lifting offensively for England. Goalie Cam MacLeod also played at an elite level, saving 47 of 55 shots on a day when the shot totals between the two teams was close.
Five of Czechia’s eight goals came from Pavel Srch, who recorded a hat-trick, and Jiří Loskot, who connected on two shots. Starting goalie Viktor Bláha saved 30 shots and allowed 11 goals in three quarters of play. Josef Slavík played the entire fourth quarter, making nine saves and allowing two goals.
England’s penalty defense was also superb, allowing just one goal on seven tries for Czechia.
England will face Canada in the semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m., and Czechia will take on Japan in placement play at 1 p.m.
Haudenosaunee – Israel
Haudenosaunee handled Israel, 24-6, in the third quarterfinal of the day to advance to the semifinal round again.
The story of the game was two dominant halves for Haudenosaunee, as the team outscored Israel 10-3 in the first half and 14-3 in the second.
Eli McLaughlin made finding his Haudenosaunee teammates look easy, finishing with 10 assists and two goals. Thomas Hoggarth and Koleton Marquis each added six goals and two assists.
On Israel’s side, Parker Pipher and Nathaniel Solomon each netted two goals, and Jean-Luc Chetner added three assists.
Haudenosaunee goalkeeper Warren Hill was strong in net with 33 saves and just six goals allowed.
Haudenosaunee moves on to the semifinals and will face the United States in a rematch of the two team’s battle on opening night. Israel will face Ireland in placement play.
United States – Ireland
The United States capped off the quarterfinal slate by taking care of Ireland, 24-6.
The U.S. returns to the semifinals and sunk a previously undefeated Ireland team with a complete performance to bounce back from its pool play finale against Canada on Tuesday.
It was one-way traffic from the get-go on Thursday evening with the United States racing to a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and a 17-0 lead in 27 minutes of action.
When all was said and done, the United States had nine players with multi-goal outings and five players with multiple assists. Mac O’Keefe stepped up with two goals and seven assists and C.J. Kirst had four goals.
Drew Hutchison made 21 saves to earn his second win of the tournament.
The U.S. and the Haudenosaunee will meet in the semifinal round of the men’s box championship for the third consecutive championship on Friday.
Ireland will take on Israel in placement play on Saturday.
Hong Kong, China – Belgium
Hong Kong, China surged late to finish off Belgium for a 20-9 win in the first game of the day.
After four consecutive Belgium goals in the third quarter, Hong Kong, China found itself clinging to an 11-9 lead. But the team scored the game’s final nine goals en route to a 20-9 win.
Hong Kong, China’s effort was led by five goals apiece from Corbyn Tao and Carter Li, plus a hat-trick and six assists from Jalen Chaster. Goalie Pak Long Chan added a strong contribution with 28 saves on 37 shots.
Kyle Baker carried the offensive load for Belgium with five goals, over half the team’s total. Four other players netted one, and Guillaume Noack finished with three assists to lead the team. In net, Branko Van den Wildenbergh made 37 saves.
A difference maker in this game was the shots, which favored Hong Kong, China, 57-37.
Hong Kong, China will take on Greece in placement play towards 21st place while Belgium will take on Puerto Rico in the race towards 25th.
China – Chinese Taipei
China used a dominant first half, outscoring Chinese Taipei 10-3, as a launch pad for a 16-6 win in placement play on Thursday.
Chris Dong led China in goals with five. Ben Stewart added a hat-trick, and Kevin Dong, Leo Stouros, and Mingyong Tong each recorded two goals.
Five players netted for Chinese Taipei, led by Dennis Jack Burns with two.
Ben Thibault played the first 55 minutes for China and made his presence felt with 36 saves and just five goals allowed. Kai Chen checked in for the final five minutes and saved five of six shots.
China advances in the placement bracket towards 13th place and will face Italy on Saturday.
Chinese Taipei moves into the bracket for 17th place and faces Poland on Friday.
Puerto Rico – Greece
Greece outlasted Puerto Rico for its first win at the men’s box championship on Thursday in placement action.
After three unanswered Puerto Rico goals in the fourth quarter, Greece led 13-12 with just under five minutes to go. But Greece fired in two goals in nine seconds during the 58th minute helped the team hold on for a 15-12 win.
Five Greek players scored multiple goals, including four from Christos Brooks and hat-tricks from Demetre Crews and Nick Sotiropoulos. Greece’s ball movement was on full display, with 16 assists on 15 goals.
Lance Yapor of Puerto Rico found the back of the net five times, while Will Ramos and Owen Fasulka connected twice. Brandon Perkins racked up three assists to lead the team.
Greece goalie Evan Constantopoulos saved 39 shots, and Michael Riomao saved 27 for Puerto Rico.
Greece will face Hong Kong in the bracket for 21st place on Friday. Puerto Rico will play Belgium on Friday.
Italy – Poland
After trailing 3-1 just over three minutes into the game, Italy outscored Poland 14-2 the rest of the way to finish with a 15-5 victory in placement play on Thursday.
Italy was boosted by its two star forwards Lucas Dudemaine, who racked up seven goals and two assists, and Joey Lucchesi, who tallied four and four.
Goalie Samuel Crispo was excellent again, finishing with 38 saves and just five goals allowed.
Tyler Kolodka netted twice. David Zajac started in net and saved 21 of 29 shots. Michal Gladki replaced Zajac near the end of the first half and played the rest of the game. The goaltender saved 15 shots.
Italy will face China in the bracket for 13th place on Saturday morning. Poland will face Chinese Taipei in the bracket for 17th place on Friday.
Jamaica – Hungary
Jamaica secured a 13-6 victory over Hungary in placement play on Thursday.
After a 6-4 lead at halftime, a 4-0 run in the second half allowed Jamaica to pull away.
Marcus Minichiello and Isaac Newland combined for eight of Jamaica’s goals with four each. Bryan Depass and Danielo Parkinson netted two apiece.
Three players found the net for Hungary: Peter Gudmundsen with a hat-trick, Carson Cowburn with two goals, and Nathan Twisk with one. Gudmundsen added two assists.
Hungary goalie Dirk Robertson saved 38 shots. Jamaica starter Jacob Thompson saved 11 of 15 shots and was replaced by Matthew Marrett early in the fourth quarter, who finished with four saves on six shots.
Jamaica will face Switzerland while Hungary will take on Mexico, with both games on Friday.
Scotland – U.S. Virgin Islands
Dane Bentley netted a short-handed goal with just over two minutes left in regulation to give the U.S. Virgin Islands a 16-15 win over Scotland in placement play.
Every time it looked like one side would pull away, the other team answered back. The USVI led 12-9 early in the second half but halfway through the third quarter Scotland had a 13-12 lead. The teams traded goals the rest of the way with Scotland tying it up twice before Bentley’s winner gave the USVI its second one-goal win in a row.
Dante Poli led the way for the USVI with six goals, and Nick McEvoy added a hat-trick and two assists. Bentley, who played hero at the end, netted two.
For Scotland, Chris Cowieson and Thom Gilbrook both tallied hat tricks, and Jake Gilmour added a goal and six assists. Gilmour and Thomas Farrell of the USVI were both called for penalties with just under three minutes to play, leading to Bentley’s short-handed winner.
Patrick Crosby was in net for the USVI and made 31 saves. Craig Mcfeeters started for Scotland but came out during the first quarter. Josh Gamble played the remainder of the game and saved 43 of 55 shots.
The USVI advanced in the placement bracket towards 13th place and will take on Slovakia on Saturday morning.
Scotland will face Austria on Friday afternoon.
Switzerland – Mexico
Switzerland rode an early lead to a 15-11 win over Mexico in placement play for its second win in Utica.
Switzerland led 7-1 after 21 minutes and 11-3 four minutes into the third quarter.
Mexico found some attacking rhythm in the second half and cut the lead to 13-11 with just under three minutes to play, putting a scare into the Swiss. Sebastian Heri and Brandon Kunick shut the door with two late goals and Switzerland came out on top.
Sebastian Heri finished with six goals and three assists in a standout performance, while Lukas Heri had two goals and six assists. Dominic Herren added four goals and an assist.
Joshua Sanchez led Mexico again with five points and Charlie Frattini III recorded a hat trick.
Sven Baeriswyl made 23 saves in three quarters for Switzerland.
Switzerland will take on Jamaica on Friday evening in the placement bracket for 21st place.
Mexico will face Hungary on Friday afternoon.
Slovakia – Austria
Slovakia closed out action in the men’s box championship on Thursday with a gritty 9-7 win, keyed by its strong defense and goalkeeping.
Lee Jackman made 46 saves with an 87% save percentage for Slovakia.
The three goal run in the third quarter to pad the lead from 6-5 to 9-5 made the difference from Slovakia and it allowed just two Austria goals in the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
Alec Simons amassed six points on three goals and three assists with Samuel Postma supporting the offense on a goal and three assists.
Josh Dawick recorded six points for Austria while Gerhard Porbst notched four.
Slovakia advanced in the placement bracket towards 13th place and will face the USVI on Saturday morning.
Austria is back in action on Friday afternoon against Scotland.
