(DELMAR, NY) The Federation of International Lacrosse is pleased to announce the appointment of Ann Hutchings as the Women’s Officiating Chair. Ann will formally commence her four year term on 1 January 2012.

Ann has a long history of lacrosse involvement and has experiences in the sport having participated as a player, manager and coach before turning her attention to officiating.
She played for England/Great Britain between 1977-1982, managed England between 1992-95 and also coached the England Development team in 1994. Her focus on officiating began in the late 90’s and she commenced her international involvement at the Home Internationals in 1999.
Ann has worked as an umpire and Technical Delegate many of international events including the 2007 and 2011 U19 World Championships, the 2009 World Cup, the Berlin Open, the Prague Cup, European Championships, the German Championships and the Home Internationals.
Off the field, Ann has delivered training to umpires in Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Finland and has been involved in producing officiating resources for several years. She has also served on the FIL Women’s Officiating Committee since 2009 and is a member of the ELA Rules & Umpiring Committee.
Ann is thrilled to be appointed to this position and is excited to begin her new role, “I am honored and delighted to be elected to the Chair of the FIL Women’s Officiating Committee. She continues, “My involvement with lacrosse is multi faceted, and I believe that my experiences as a player, a coach, a manager and as an umpire will facilitate my work as Chair. I am also looking forward to working with friends and colleagues from so many lacrosse playing nations. Lacrosse is developing very quickly around the world and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of the team overseeing such a dynamic phase of the best sport on the planet”.
The Women’s Officiating Chair is responsible for overseeing the work of the Women’s Officiating Committee. This Committee establishes and maintains qualification standards for women’s world event officials, including the development of necessary training curricula and testing resources and is also responsible for selecting and assessing officials for world event play.
Ann will meet with the Women’s Sector and FIL Board in mid-January and begin reaching out to the international officiating community soon after.
