World Lacrosse has selected 85 on-field officials from 15 nations for the four continental sixes championships taking place this year, the first stage of qualification for lacrosse’s return to the Olympic Games at LA28.
Forty-seven officials worked the first two championships in Oshawa, Canada, and on Australia’s Sunshine Coast. The remaining 36 will officiate the European Sixes Lacrosse Championships in Salou, Spain, and the African Sixes Lacrosse Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa, which will decide the final spots at the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships in Colorado Springs. USA.
The European championships feature the largest crew, with 31 officials, 10 of whom will work both the women’s and men’s events.
The continental sixes championships also serve as the first stage of officials’ selection for the LA28 Olympic Games. Officials are evaluated multiple times at each championship under World Lacrosse’s competency-based evaluation system.
Following the continental championships, approximately 50 officials will be selected for further evaluation at the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships. Twenty-five will then advance to the Final Olympic Qualifying Tournament in early 2028, from which approximately 18 will be selected to officiate at LA28.
