19 teams are set to compete at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship, featuring the best rising global lacrosse talent in Seogwipo on Jeju Island in Korea from August 15 to 24.
The 10th edition of the men’s U20 championship field features seven teams from the Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union, six teams from the Pan-American Lacrosse Association, five teams from the European Lacrosse Federation and one team from the Africa Association of Lacrosse, split into five pools.
Pool A features the top four teams from the last edition of the championship in Australia, Canada, Haudenosaunee and the United States, who all will advance directly to the quarterfinals. The remaining pools will advance two teams each to the play-in round, ahead of quarterfinals, semifinals and the medal round.
The entire event will be streamed on WL TV, with an event pass starting at US$35.

The 2025 edition of the Men’s U20 Championship is the first World Lacrosse championship in Korea and the first men’s U20 championship in mainland Asia. Games will be held at the two fields at the Gongcheonpo Training Center.
In addition to the three medalists from 2022, all of the top ten finishers from the last edition of the championship return to the field in Korea. New Zealand makes its debut at the event.
The original 20-team field is now at 19 teams after Ghana was withdrawn from the championship on August 14.
Pool Previews
The United States took home the gold medal in 2022, collecting its ninth consecutive gold medal at the tournament. Canada earned its sixth consecutive silver medal, falling to the United States in the championship game. Haudenosaunee earned its fourth consecutive bronze medal, defeating Australia in the bronze medal game.
Pool B includes three seasoned teams in a highly competitive pool. Japan is coming off a fifth-place finish in 2022, matching its best-ever result. The Netherlands returns for its second U20 appearance, and Hong Kong, China, will play in its third tournament after finishing 14th in 2022.
Pool C at the Men’s U20 Championship features the host Korea, two top-ten finishers from the last edition, and a debutant at the event in New Zealand, who boasts a strong men’s lacrosse program.
England finished sixth in 2022 while Jamaica finished in ninth, and Korea was in 16th place. All four squads will back themselves to advance, with England as the nominal favorite.
Pool E includes four teams that debuted at the Men’s U20 Championship in 2016, headlined by Ireland and Israel, who have both earned first-place finishes at recent men’s international events.
Mexico makes its return to the Men’s U20 Championship after not appearing at the 2022 edition. China looks to rebound after a 17th place finish in 2022.
Pool E blends experience and potential with an intriguing battle brewing between Germany and Puerto Rico for the top spot.
Germany makes its sixth men’s U20 championship appearance as one of the tournament’s longest‑tenured nations. Kenya returns as the sport continues to grow rapidly in the country.
Puerto Rico, which finished eighth in 2022, is bringing more talent to build on its impressive debut. Chinese Taipei makes its third U20 appearance, led by a staff of former national team players.
