The 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship is set for August 15-24 on Jeju Island in South Korea. 20 teams will compete, split in five groups for pool play, followed by playoffs that will include quarterfinals, semifinals and medal games.

Pool C at the Men’s U20 Championship features the host Korea, two top-ten finishers from the last edition, and a debutant at the event in New Zealand, who boasts a strong men’s lacrosse program.
England finished sixth in 2022 while Jamaica finished in ninth, and Korea was in 16th place. All four squads will back themselves to advance, with England as the nominal favorite.

England
England will make its ninth appearance in the Men’s U20 Championship, having finished in the top six in every previous edition with hopes of pushing for a semifinal bid in 2025.
A strong contingent of nine players helped England to a silver medal at the European Men’s U20 Lacrosse Championship in 2024, led by goalkeeper Joachim Ruby and defensemen Alex Tyldesley-Worster, James Thompson and Wil Baker. The team posted a stout goals-against-average of 4.4 in seven games.
Alexander Cartwright should also help the defense and committed to play at the New Jersey Institute of Technology this year with experience in Junior A Box Lacrosse in Canada. Attackman Spencer Mason also has Junior B Box Lacrosse experience.
Head Coach Mike Armstrong has helmed the squad since September of 2023 and led the team during the ELF Men’s U20 Championship. Armstrong also coaches at the University of Nottingham.
Jamaica
Jamaica makes its second showing at the Men’s U20 Championship after impressing with a ninth-place finish in 2022.
Headlining the squad is Stone Evans, who starred for Jamaica at its last appearance in 2022 and played for the senior squad at the 2023 Men’s Championship. Evans appeared in nine games for Providence in 2025 as a freshman with two points.
Elias McLaughlin will also support the front line and is set to suit up in the coming year for Colgate University. McLaughlin was named a USA Lacrosse All-American in 2023.
Caleb McDowell and JT Mathura should help to anchor a strong defensive unit, with McDowell committed to Yale University and Mathura committed to Johns Hopkins University.
Mark Wilson will serve as head coach for the team, having previously led Jamaica at the 2023 Men’s Championship and as an assistant coach at the 2018 Men’s Championship.
Korea
Korea has made six appearances at the Men’s U20 Championship, finishing in 16th place in 2022.
Saeng Ryo is set to star between the pipes and made 10 appearances with 31 saves for Washington and Lee University, a top-ten ranked NCAA Division III program. Kaidan Suh is a strong defenseman who suited up for Boston University as a freshman in 2025 after being named an Adrenaline All-American in his senior year.
Tanner Hahm will also be a key contributor in attack, scoring four goals in 13 appearances in 2025 for the University of Indianapolis. Ryan Baik is also an attackman rostered at Drexel University, a Division I team.
Head Coach Dongwoon Won played for Korea at the 2006 and 2010 Men’s Championships and currently works at Incheon Posco Academy.
New Zealand
New Zealand makes its debut at the Men’s U20 Championship, although the overall men’s program has a storied history with six senior men’s championship appearances.
Most of the squad is based domestically, with 15 players hailing from Auckland, Hamilton or Te Awamutu.
17-year-old Noah Perez will be a contributor to the attack with experience at a Junior B Box Lacrosse team. Brinley Chrzanowksi is set to help the defense and has played at Santa Clara in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association.
Kieran Snape and Cayden Taylor are the two goalkeepers.
Head Coach Bob Carter has previously led the Australia men’s box lacrosse team and served as a high-performance director for Australia, in addition to various coaching roles at club, state and international levels.
Games to Watch
England vs. Jamaica // Friday, Aug. 15, 12 p.m.
The first matchup of the pool is an exciting contest between two top-ten finishers at the last edition of the event. England, one of the storied programs in the championship, will try to hold off Jamaica, one of the game’s fast risers, in a rematch of placement play in 2022.
Korea vs. New Zealand // Friday, Aug. 15, 7 p.m.
The host Korea makes its debut in primetime on opening day against Asia-Pacific rival New Zealand in a hotly anticipated clash. While New Zealand is making just its first appearance at the event compared to Korea’s sixth, the matchup is finely poised, as the two senior men’s teams dueled to a two-goal thriller in the finale of the 2023 Men’s Championship.

Jamaica and Korea meet on day two of competition, which will factor into the play-in picture, but the clash between Jamaica and New Zealand as the Pool C finale should have clear stakes ahead of the next round. Both teams will be ready to leave it all on the line in an intense affair.
