Canada completed a perfect 25-0 outing against China to finish pool play undefeated at the women’s sixes competition at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu.
Canada was dominant in every phase of the game, allowing just 12 shots total and scoring nine goals in the first quarter to cruise the rest of the way.
“We’re continuing to build our rhythm and team chemistry, so we’re excited to keep improving from the last couple games,” said Canada’s Nicole Perroni. “We’ve learned we have to put the team before ourselves. We haven’t all played together before but we know things go better when working for your team.”
At 3-0, Canada took the top spot in Pool A and advanced to the semifinals. China fell to 0-3.
Goalkeeper Lauren Spence was perfect for Canada in the shutout, making 12 saves.
The 11 field players for Canada each recorded a point in a balanced showing, with eight players tallying four or more.
Annabel Child’s two goals and five assists led the way, while Erica Evans and Nicole Perroni chipped in with six points apiece.
Canada will play in the second semifinal on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. China will play in the seventh place game at 9 a.m.
“The focus area for the next game is just to stay locked on what we’re doing, regardless of who we play next,” said Perroni. “If we do the things we know we can do well, we feel confident we can get to the championship game again.”
