Men’s Competition Summary
After 12 games of action on Friday to start the men’s competition in Super Sixes, four teams stayed unbeaten with two wins: Australia, Canada, the Haudenosaunee and the United States.
The three Pan-American squads rolled through six games, with the Haudenosaunee’s 19-11 win over the U.S. Virgin Islands the tightest contest. Australia made a statement with a 21-12 win over rival Great Britain, and consolidated with a hard-fought 21-16 win over Poland.
Canada and Australia are atop Pool A while Haudenosaunee and the United States are atop Pool B. The top two teams from both pools advance to the semifinals on Sunday, and both pairs of teams will meet on Saturday in exciting contests.
Ireland and Germany also picked up wins on the day and have games against Australia and the United States respectively to make a playoff push.
Women’s Competition Summary
In the Super Sixes women’s competition, Canada’s two teams reigned supreme with two wins each. Canada White narrowly defeated the Haudenosaunee 11-8 while Canada Red dispatched Australia 16-6.
Australia, the Haudenosaunee, Germany and Ireland all have a win apiece.
After a round of games beginning at 11 a.m. ET, the women’s semifinals are set for 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, with both games streamed on WL TV.
Australia and Ireland have the most compelling battle for a playoff spot in Pool A at 12:30 p.m.

The hosts Canada raced to the first win of the men’s competition, 28-9, over Ireland with seven points from Ian MacKay and six points from Jon Donville.
The United States coasted to a 28-2 win over the U.S. Virgin Islands with eight points from CJ Kirst.

Australia impressed with a 21-12 win over Great Britain, led by five goals and an assist from Marcus Arambatzis.
Germany handled Mexico 20-13.

Ireland rebounded to defeat Poland 22-13, with four goals and an assist from Matt Duncan.

The Haudenosaunee got up and running with a 19-11 win over the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Australia improved to 2-0 and held off a strong challenge from Poland in a 21-16 decision. Australia led 14-7 with the first goal a minute after halftime, but Poland stormed back to within three at 16-13 under two minutes into the fourth quarter. Australia regained control of the game with a three-goal run and ended up up on top by five. Marcus Wertheim was on fire to start for Australia and finished with six goals, and Arambatzis chipped in four. Luke Okupski impressed with six for Poland in defeat.
The Haudenosaunee improved to 2-0 with a well-measured 27-13 victory over Germany. Trayon Sunday led the way with six scores.
Canada managed its contest against Great Britain for a 20-10 win. Great Britain got to within six early in the third quarter but Canada never let it creep closer with a late flurry from Sam English, who finished with four. Dyson Williams had six.
The United States closed out the day with a 31-7 win over Mexico. CJ Kirst spearheaded the diverse attacking effort with another six goals.
The Canada White squad powered past the Dominican Republic 30-6. Brenna Shanahan erupted for seven points and Resse Whiteman added six.

The Haudenosaunee opened their campaign with a 16-6 win over Germany.
The Canada Red team took care of Ireland 22-5, and Nicole Perroni led all scorers with five goals.

Australia recorded a tone-setting 29-2 win over Mexico.
The Canada White squad improved to 2-0 with an 11-8 victory over the Haudenosaunee in a narrow affair, tied 5-5 at halftime and a two-goal game in the final two minutes. Brooklyn Walker-Welch scored the goal to restore Canada’s three goal lead and prevent a Haudenosaunee comeback, and overall Canada used a 4-0 third quarter run to flip the contest in its favor. Reese Whiteman had three goals and two in the third.
Germany collected its first win in Oshawa, holding off the Dominican Republic 19-8 behind a 9-2 hot start.

Canada Red proved its mettle with an impressive 16-6 win over a strong Australia squad with many returners from its bronze medal team at Chengdu. Canada led 7-1 at halftime and received four goals from star Nicole Perroni.
Ireland recouped after its initial defeat to handle Mexico 16-1. Gabby Rosenwzeig powered the attack.
