The United States jumpstarted its campaign at The World Games 2025 with a statement 32-11 win over Ireland in women’s sixes competition in Chengdu, China.
The Americans fired off eight goals in the first five minutes and never looked back.
Off the opening draw, Charlotte North received a feed from behind the goal and deftly redirected it in for a 1-0 lead within 10 seconds. On the next possession, North fired a jumping arrow into the corner from distance, and her stamp was already on the game.
“It was amazing. We had a fast start,” said North. “We’ve prepared a lot, the coaches have got us extra prepared to be at this stage. There’s one goal in mind when we step out on the field, that’s to win and be the best U.S. team we can be … It was a great win, a great team win.”
The United States’ relentless pace and shotmaking were on display in the opener of the tournament.
The Americans in defense also limited Ireland to a 43-26 shots on goal discrepancy while causing five turnovers
When all was said and done, Masera led the attacking barrage with six goals and three assists. North added five goals and three assists while Marie McCool also contributed six points on five goals and an assist.
