Marie McCool’s MVP highlights six-player World Team at The World Games 2025

Marie McCool headlined the six-player World Team at the women’s sixes lacrosse competition at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China, which also featured Shea Dolce and Charlotte North of the United States, Erica Evans and Brooklyn-Walker Welch of Canada and Georgia Latch of Australia.

Marie McCool

The competition’s most valuable player, Marie McCool, was the most consistent and prolific attacker for a high-flying United States team. She led the tournament with 32 points in five games on 20 goals and 12 assists. McCool was 20 for 30 on her total shots, and was ruthless for the United States in front of net.

In the final, McCool posted a game-high six points on four goals and two assists.

McCool was previously named to the World Team at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship, and is a longtime veteran of the program, having also won gold at the 2017 Women’s Championship.

Shea Dolce

The United States goalkeeper made the most of her time in net, making 38 saves at a 59% rate in 80 minutes of action, as well as picking up three assists. In a competition littered with outstanding goalkeeping demanded in the fast-paced sixes discipline, Dolce’s shot stopping shined the brightest in the final against an exceptional Canadian attack.

In the gold medal game, Dolce made 11 saves on 15 shots faced at a 73% clip in the first half that ended 10-4 in the Americans’ favor.

The honor is Dolce’s second in two years after making the World Team at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship in Hong Kong.

Charlotte North

North turned in another superb stint for her national team, racking up 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists, good for the second-best point total in the competition behind her teammate McCool.

North had three points in the gold medal game, and had a 10-point outburst in the pool play finale against Czechia, the second-best single-game point total in the competition behind Chloe Humphrey’s line in the same game.

North secures her first World Team honor for the United States and her third title, after starring at the 2022 Women’s Championship and the 2024 Women’s Box Championship.

Erica Evans

Evans showed again for Canada that no matter the discipline, she is one of the most talented players in the world. She recorded 26 points with 17 goals and nine assists and was the catalyst for Canada’s attack.

She had a team-high four points for Canada in the final.

The Canadian captain tied for the second most points on the gold-medal winning team at The World Games 2022 and was the tournament leader in points at the 2024 Women’s Box Championship, which earned her a spot on the World Team.

Brooklyn Walker-Welch

Walker-Welch was one of the most active and impactful defenders in the competition, shutting down opposing team’s attackers regularly. Walker-Welch showcased transition moments and offense to her game in Chengdu and also had five goals and six assists.

Canada limited Japan to five goals in its opener, shut out China, and held the bronze medallist Australia to just four goals, with Walker-Welch’s contributions a key part of the defensive effort.

Walker-Welch was a key contributor for Canada at both The World Games 2022 and the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship.

Georgia Latch

Latch led her team in points with 28, tied for the third-most in the competition behind North and McCool.

The Australian attacker also delivered one of the moments of the tournament with the golden goal in the bronze medal game victory against Japan, capping a game-high seven-point performance.

Latch starred for Australia at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship, where the Aussies took fourth, and was second on the team in points for the previous bronze medal winning squad at The World Games 2022.
