Great Britain handily defeated China, 24-2, to claim a win in the final game of the first day of the women’s sixes competition at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu.
Great Britain completed a perfect first half, shutting out China 15-0, and wasted no time in building its lead with an aggressive defensive approach.
“I think it was a good opportunity to get lots of touches and lots of confidence throughout the team,” said Lottie Robertson of Great Britain. “It was an opportunity to play through our plays, get used to the heat and play with intensity as we move forward.”
Great Britain outshot China on the day 38-6.
Eight different players scored for Great Britain, and Robertson led the pack with eight points on five goals and three assists. Liv Wimpenny and Emma Savage finished with hat tricks as well.
Dylan Whittington was a perfect five for five on shots faced for the first half for Great Britain, and Emilie Chandler made seven saves in the second half.
Angela Zou scored China’s first goal to a nice ovation from the strong home contingent in the crowd. Lee Chen scored China’s second.
Great Britain improved to 1-0 ahead of a clash with an undefeated Canada team to start Friday’s slate at 9 a.m. China will face Japan at 2:30 p.m.
