Germany bounced back with an all-around strong performance to sink Chinese Taipei, 19-6, for its first win at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship on day four in Korea.
Germany wasted no time on Monday morning in a must-win game against its opponent, posting back-to-back 6-1 quarters in the first and second frames en-route to a comfortable victory.
Germany’s superior finishing made the difference, with a 40% shooting percentage overall to go with 31 out of 47 shots on goal. Defensively, Germany forced Chinese Taipei to 23 turnovers and allowed just 14 shots on goal.
Germany improved to 1-1, needing the win to stay alive in the hunt for second place in Pool E and a spot in the play-in round. If it can win against Kenya on Tuesday, Germany will be in good shape at 2-1 to advance out of the pool.
Four different players notched a hat trick for the diverse German attack in Aimone Tassinari, Julius Busch, Erik Schmiedl and Aaron Trapp, who also had an assist for a game-high four points.
Goalkeepers Erik Mischel and David Scheider combined for eight saves.
Bo-An Chen had three goals to lead Chinese Taipei while Wen-Han Lee had seven saves.
Chinese Taipei faces 2-0 Puerto Rico in the final game of Tuesday with a chance to cause a three-way tie in the standings. Germany plays Kenya earlier in the day.
