Chinese Taipei opened its account in Korea with a 15-5 win over Kenya on day two of the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship.
Chinese Taipei posted a 6-1 first quarter and enjoyed smooth sailing from there. Both teams put up a high number of shots and Kenya forced Chinese Taipei into 27 turnovers, but Chinese Taipei’s shooting was significantly better on the afternoon, with a 32% shooting rate compared to 14% for Kenya.
Kenya enjoyed itself with memorable celebrations on a handful of its goals, including the first to tie Chinese Taipei in the opening quarter.
Chinese Taipei played just two games at the 2022 Men’s U20 Championship in Ireland, so its win on Saturday was its first in the event dating back to 2016.
The face-off was also a key advantage for Chinese Taipei, with Leonidas Reito going 15 of 23. Both goalkeepers also held firm, as You-En Ye and Wen-Han Lee combined for 17 saves on 22 shots on goal.
Offensively, Bo-An Chen racked up an impressive seven- point outing with two goals and five assists. Chiuan-You Li posted five goals and Ming-Hung Chen added four points.
Benjamin Mulesi recorded a hat trick for Kenya. Neval Otieno made six saves.
Chinese Taipei improve to 1-0 in Pool E and plays Germany on Monday in an exciting game. Kenya will face Puerto Rico on Sunday.
