Australia returns to the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship in August on Jeju Island, South Korea, aiming to reach the podium for the first time since 2003. Australia has a strong history at the tournament, earning two silver medals and two bronze medals. The team narrowly missed out on a medal in both 2016 and 2022, finishing fourth.
One player to watch is midfielder and team captain Toby Templeton.
Templeton represented Australia at the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championship in Utica, New York, where the team finished 11th after defeating the Netherlands in the placement round. He recorded two goals and two assists during the tournament, helping Australia to a 4-3 overall record.
Templeton recently completed his freshman season at Wilmington University in Delaware, appearing in 16 games with 15 starts. He totaled 24 goals, nine assists, 33 points and 16 ground balls. He closed the season with six consecutive multi-point games and was named CACC Rookie of the Week after scoring six goals against Holy Family. Wilmington advanced to the NCAA Tournament before falling to Seton Hill in the first round.
Australia will compete in Pool A alongside Canada, the Haudenosaunee and the United States. Australia’s first game is scheduled for Aug. 16 against the Haudenosaunee at 4 p.m. Korean Standard Time.
