United States rolls past Germany in Pool A

The United States began its defense of its gold medal in the women’s U20 championship with a resounding 33-0 victory over Germany.

Sixteen different players scored for the USA. Emma LoPinto finished with four goals and five assists en route to the player of the match award.

Madison Taylor amassed seven goals. Madison Alaimo had a goal and six assists. Haven Dora notched three goals and five assists. Maddie Epke won 22 of 27 draw controls and collected 19 herself.

The United States assisted 22 of its 33 goals. The team was thoroughly dominant on the night, not allowing Germany to get off a single shot.

The USA will face Puerto Rico on Saturday at 8 p.m. and look to take another step towards the playoffs. Germany faces China at 5 p.m. on Saturday in an exciting contest after China’s opening day win against Israel.
