Twenty-team field set for 2025 Men’s U20 Championship in Korea

World Lacrosse today announced the field of 20 teams set to compete in the 2025 Men’s U20 Championship on Jeju Island in Korea, scheduled for August 15-24. 

The field includes 17 teams from the 2022 edition of the championship, including all of the top 10 finishers. The participating teams are:

  • Canada 
  • China 
  • England 
  • Germany 
  • Ghana 
  • Haudenosaunee 
  • Hong Kong, China 
  • Ireland 
  • Israel 
  • Jamaica 
  • Japan 
  • Kenya 
  • Korea 
  • Mexico 
  • Netherlands 
  • New Zealand 
  • Puerto Rico 
  • Chinese Taipei 
  • United States 

The diverse field includes teams from all of World Lacrosse’s Continental Federations, with seven teams from the Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union, six teams from the Pan-American Lacrosse Association, five teams from the European Lacrosse Federation and two teams from the Africa Association of Lacrosse. 

World Lacrosse CEO Jim Scherr said: “I am thrilled to announce an exceptionally strong field for this men’s U20 championship, which features the best young talent in our sport from an increasingly diverse lacrosse community. The rapidly rising level of competition at our U20 championships reflects the trajectory of our sport and I cannot wait for our global fanbase to witness the next stars of our game at an exceptional World Lacrosse event on the beautiful Jeju Island in Korea.” 

The medalists from 2022 will all be back in contention in the United States, Canada and the Haudenosaunee. The rest of the returning top 10 includes Australia, Japan, England, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Israel.  

Ghana will make its debut in the competition, its first at any World Lacrosse championship. New Zealand will also make its first appearance in the men’s U20 championship, having competed at five senior men’s championships. 

Korea, the host, and Germany have made the most previous appearances of the remaining participants with five, followed by China; Hong Kong, China; and Chinese Taipei with two each. The Netherlands and Kenya each made their debut at the event in 2022, while Mexico returns to the field after its first appearance in 2016.
