The International World Games Association named Japan as its team of the month in January for winning the 2025 Asia-Pacific Women’s Lacrosse Championship and qualifying for The World Games 2025.
Japan took home first place in the eight-team tournament in January in Queensland, Australia, defeating the host 9-5 in the gold medal game.
With this victory, Japan officially qualified for The World Games 2025 (TWG 2025), set to take place in Chengdu, China, in August 2025. The team now joins Australia, Canada, Great Britain, the United States, and host nation China in the prestigious tournament, with the final two spots to be determined at the European sixes’ competition in Portugal this March.
“The Japanese women’s victory at the recent Asia-Pacific Women’s Lacrosse Championship is a testament to their hard work, skill and commitment to excellence. Qualifying for The World Games 2025 is a well-earned reward, and we look forward to seeing them compete on the global stage this summer in Chengdu,” noted World Lacrosse leadership.
