Japan opens day three with Pool D win over Jamaica

Japan claimed its first win of the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship against Jamaica on day three at Hong Kong Football Club Stadium by a 21-3 scoreline.

Japan improved to 1-1 and remains in the hunt for a playoff spot in Pool D.

Ayana Kamiya was named the player of the match for her strong performance on draws, winning 14 of 18 and collected 11 controls herself.

Twelve different players scored for Japan, led by Yuka Kawase with four goals and then Mega Kitagawa with three. Miri Akiyama and Ayame Mizuno both posted stat lines of two goals and two assists.

Japan’s next match is a blockbuster contest with England on Sunday. Jamaica has a day off and faces Ireland on Monday.
