(OSHAWA, ONTARIO) After three days of pool play, five teams remain unbeaten at the 2013 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup. Japan and New Zealand are both 3-0. Canada, the United States and Israel are all at 2-0.

Canada 11 (2-0), England 6 (1-2)
(Excerpt from LaxMagazine.com) A balanced offensive attack spearheaded Canada’s efforts in its second game in FIL World Cup pool play. Eight different players scored goals to lead the Canadians in an 11-6 victory over England at Oshawa’s Civic Recreation Complex.
Dana Dobbie, Megan Takacs, Lydia Sutton, Brooke Eubanks, Mandy Friend and Abbey Friend all had first half goals as Canada built a three-goal lead after 30 minutes.
On the other side, England’s offence was paced by Merrifield, who scored four times and could have had at least two more, while Kirsten Lafferty and Sophie Brett had the others.

United States 19 (2-0), Wales 2 (1-2)
(Excerpt from LaxMagazine.com) Eleven players scored as the U.S. Women’s National Team defeated Wales 19-2 on Saturday in Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup pool play.
Team USA attacker Katrina Dowd led all scorers with four goals and three assists, earning player of the match honors. Dowd capitalized on several feeds from linemate Katie Rowan, who finished with two goals and three assists.
Wales tied the game at 1-1 with an early goal from Iona Dryden, but the U.S. answered with a dominating 18-goal spanning 56:37. Team USA controlled possession throughout the game, collecting 20 ground balls to Wales’ seven and forcing 12 failed clearing attempts.
U.S. team captain Lindsey Munday recorded two goals and three assists, one of eight players to record multiple points in the win. Katie Schwarzmann also notched two goals and two assists.
Iona Dryden and Ros Lloyd Rout scored for Wales.

Scotland 14 (2-1), Germany 10 (1-2)
Player of the Match – Scotland’s Ailsa Stott
Scotland survived a German (1-2) rally in the second half to improve to 2-1 in pool play.
Alisa Stott earned POTM honors by netting 4 goals. Eleanor Bygroves added 3 goals and an assist. Other contributions: Susan Clark (2G), Catriona Thomson (1G-1A); Julia Paterson (1G), Flora Noble (1G), Emma Economou (1G) and Sarah Whittick (1G).
Leading scorers for Germany: Anna Blank (4G), Mareile Kriwall (3G) and Kristina Schafer (1G-1A). Pia Balz nd Jella Kandziora each added a goal for the Germans.

New Zealand 13 (3-0), Ireland 4 (2-1)
Player of the Match – New Zealand’s Natalie Russell
In a battle of unbeaten squads, the Kiwis defeated the Irish to go to 3-0 in pool play.
Leading the scoring for New Zealand were Clare Stewart-Hunter with 3 goals with Sarah Butler and Stephanie Eaton each netting 2 goals and each earning an assist. Victoria Lelo, Katie Knaus, MC Holdaway, Briar Tippett, Kiki Shum and Tremaine Edmonds each added a goal to the Kiwi effort.
Claire Halliday (2G), Vanessa Bridge (1G) and Olivia Jackson (1G) provided the offense for Ireland.

South Korea 18 (1-2), Latvia 5 (0-3)
South Korea picked up it’s first win in pool play, defeating Latvia 18-5.
Eunah Choi had a huge game, netting 7 goals. Grace Son (3G-1A) and Jiyoon Kang (3G) each had hat tricks. Rounding out the scoring for the South Koreans were JyHyun Song (2G), Eun Hee Yoon (1G), Yu Minohara (1G) and Iseo Chung (1G).
Laura Baltmane and Gretchen Lasda each netted 2 goals for Latvia and Ligita Kupcus also scored a goal.
Japan 15 (3-0), Haudenosaunee 11 (2-1)
Japan managed to limit the Haudenosaunee scoring machine to just ten goals (4 in the second half) in their 14-10 win. Both teams were undefeated before the contest.
Japan and the Haudenosaunee averaged over 26 goals in their first two pool play matches. After a very close first half (Japan led 8-7) it was Japan’s defensive effort in the second half that provided the hard fought victory.
Eriko Ogawa (4G), Akiko Wada (3G-1A), Mai Kemmochi (3G), Rie Mito (2G-2A), Saori Hieda (1G-3A), Yuko Kobori (1G-2A) and Sachiko Nomura (1G) provided the scoring for Japan.
Providing the offense for the Haudenosaunee: Awehiyo Thomas (3G-2A), Trenna Hill (3G-1A), Alie Jimerson (2G-1A) and Dawn Easley (1G-1A), Naomi Walser (1G) and Michaela Rich (1G).

Austria 12 (2-1), Sweden 5 (0-3)
Player of the Match – Austria’s Isabelle Schimek
Austria improved to 2-1 with a win over Sweden on Saturday.
Daniela Zlobl and Katharina Bierbacher netted hat tricks for Austria. Claudia Mikula added 2 goals and an assist, POTM Isabelle Schimek provided a goal and 2 assists and Franziska Putz, Lena Kuglitsch and Nicole Kuntzel each scored goals.
Helene Hollingworth (2G-2A) had a big game for Sweden with Teckla Jackson (2G) and Anneli Jonsson (1G) providing the other Swedish goals.
Netherlands 10 (2-1), Finland 9 (0-3)
Player of the Match – Netherlands’s Evelien von Ingen
After building a strong 8-4 lead in the first half, the Dutch held off a valiant 5-2 Finnish rally in the second half to take an exciting 10-9 win in pool play Saturday morning.
Hanneke vanVerseveld, Mieke den Bakker and Evelien van Ingen led the way for the Dutch sqaud with 2 goals each.
Laura Jamsen (3G), Sinikka Ijas (2G-1A) and Tia Baumgartner (2G) led the scoring for the Finns.
