New York, NY – The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) has announced the selection of the following On Field and Off Field Officials for the FIL 2019 Women’s Lacrosse U19 World Championship in Peterborough, Canada from 1 – 10 August 2019.

The team of 55 officials will be led by FIL Women’s Officiating Chair, Stephen Taylor of England and a Leadership team of five officials: Sachiko Goto (JPN), Jane McCarthy (ENG), Nancy Madsen (USA), Wendy Reynolds (ENG) and Mara Wager (USA).
“I am honored to once again have the opportunity to lead such skilled and dedicated groups of individuals,” said Stephen Taylor, FIL Women’s Officiating Chair. “Our officials come from eleven different countries, covering four continents. When I first officiated at the first U19 World Championship at Haverford in 1995, we had twelve officials from seven countries. This growth is a direct reflection of the development of the sport across our sixty-two member nations which has recently led us to our provisional recognition by the International Olympic Committee. Our goals include strong teamwork, consistency and growth in knowledge and professionalism. I am excited to see, what we accomplish together.”
Don Blacklock, Technical Director for the FIL added, “Congratulations to all of the officials selected to participate at the largest ever U19 Women’s World Championship. As FIL continues to expand its membership, the number of umpires and technical delegates who are qualified to officiate in our events will continue to grow and develop.
Our goal is that we provide the very best officials for each FIL competition and that each official will return to their country with some new or additional techniques and skills for teaching others the rules and nuances of umpiring women’s lacrosse.”
The officials will be arriving on the weekend of July 27th and will participate in clinics, warm up games, fitness and rules tests ahead of the opening games on Thursday, August 1st.
